Fischer_BernardKyle Fischer, MD, MPH, Clinical Instructor, Department of Emergency Medicine, published the letter “Stroke Care Within the Golden Hour” in JAMA Neurology, 2015 Apr; 72(4):475-6. He was responding to an article published in the same journal earlier in the year, in which a group of German authors concluded that the dispatch of a stroke emergency mobile unit increased the percentage of patients who received a thrombolytic during transport, and that prehospital thrombolysis posed no danger to patients’ safety and was associated with better short-term outcomes. Dr. Kyle noted that, because patients with stroke mimics and transient ischemic attacks were excluded, the study was not based on a true intention-to-treat analysis.
